Full clearances and large projects

12 yard maxi skip hire

The biggest skip we hire, for the largest clear-outs and commercial jobs. It is built for a lot of light, bulky waste, which also means it is the wrong choice for anything heavy.

About 100 to 120 bin bags
Typical hire

12 yard maxi skip illustration

The 12 yard maxi skip is the largest we hire, and it is made for volume. It is the skip for a full house clearance, a shop or office fit-out, or any job that produces a large amount of bulky but lightweight material. Where a smaller skip would mean repeat collections, the maxi takes it in one.

The trade-off is that it is strictly for light waste. It is deliberately not rated for dense material, so it is the wrong skip for soil, rubble or concrete. Knowing that up front saves the frustration of a skip that cannot be collected because it is over weight.

Dimensions and access

Will a 12 yard skip fit?

A 12 yard skip measures roughly 3.6 m long, 1.8 m wide, 1.8 m high.

A 12 yard maxi skip is large and usually needs to go on the road rather than a driveway, so a permit is normally required. We arrange it and build the council lead time into your delivery date, so the skip only lands once the licence is in place.

Placement and access are confirmed when you book, so there are no surprises on delivery day.

Heavy waste

Never for soil, rubble or heavy waste.

A 12 yard skip is for light, bulky waste only. A maxi skip loaded with heavy material would be far too heavy to lift, so it cannot be used for soil, rubble or concrete under any circumstances. For heavy waste, a smaller skip with a heavy-waste rating is the right choice, and for a large volume of it, a grab lorry.

Choosing a size

Is this the right size, or should you go up or down?

8 yard large skip

Drop down for general renovation waste, or a mix that includes anything heavy.

Not sure? Compare all five in the skip size guide, or see prices for your area on the skip prices page.

Permits and delivery

Permits, delivery and collection

Needs a road permit if placed on the highway rather than a driveway. Best for bulky light waste. For heavy materials like soil or rubble a smaller skip with a heavy-waste rating is usually more efficient. We deliver on the date we agree and collect once you are done.

More on when a permit applies and what it costs is in our skip permit guide.

Common questions

12 yard skip FAQs

What can I put in a 12 yard maxi skip?

Large volumes of light, bulky waste: furniture, packaging, timber, shop or office fittings and general household clearance. It is not for heavy waste like soil or rubble. See what can go in a skip.

Can I put rubble or soil in a 12 yard skip?

No. A 12 yard skip is rated for light waste only, and heavy material would take it far over its weight limit. Use a smaller skip for a heavy load, or a grab lorry for a large volume of it.

Do I need a permit for a 12 yard skip?

Usually, because a skip this size normally goes on the road rather than a driveway. We arrange the permit and factor the council lead time into your delivery date. See our skip permit guide.

How much does a 12 yard skip cost?

It depends on your postcode and the waste type. See prices for your area on our skip prices page, or get a quote and we will confirm the figure before you book.
