The 6 yard skip is the one most people picture when they think of a skip, and the one most trade customers book by default. It holds enough for a whole-house renovation, a garage or loft clear-out, or a working builders site, without being so large that it dominates a driveway or forces the job onto the road.
It is the sensible middle of the range. If your job is a single room or the waste is mostly heavy, a smaller skip is usually cheaper and just as practical. If you are shifting a lot of bulky, lightweight material, the next size up gives you the volume. For everything in between, the 6 yard is the safe choice.

Dimensions and access
Will a 6 yard skip fit?
A 6 yard skip measures roughly 3 m long, 1.5 m wide, 1.2 m high.
A 6 yard skip fits on most driveways with room to work around it. If access is tight, measure the gap: the delivery lorry needs a clear run to lower the skip into place, plus enough width for the skip itself. For placement on a public road or pavement you need a council permit, which we arrange as part of the booking.

Heavy waste
Takes rubble, but watch the weight.
A 6 yard skip will take bricks, rubble and broken concrete, but dense waste is heavy and every skip has a weight limit. If your load is mostly soil, hardcore or concrete, a smaller skip is usually the better call: it costs less and you reach the weight limit long before you fill 6 yards. The 6 yard earns its keep on mixed renovation waste, where bulk and weight are balanced.
Choosing a size
Is this the right size, or should you go up or down?
Choose the smaller skip if the job is one or two rooms, or the waste is mostly heavy soil and rubble.
Go larger if you have a lot of bulky, lightweight waste like packaging, timber or furniture.

Will a 6 yard skip fit on my drive?
Usually, yes. A 6 yard skip fits on most standard driveways with room to load it. If it does not fit, or you want it on the road, you will need a council permit, which we arrange as part of the booking. We confirm placement when you book.
Do I need a permit for a 6 yard skip?

Can I put soil and rubble in a 6 yard skip?
You can, but for a load that is mostly soil, rubble or concrete a smaller skip is usually the better value, because heavy waste hits the weight limit before it fills the space. If you have a large volume of heavy waste, a grab lorry is often the cheaper route. Tell us what you are clearing and we will point you at the right option.
How long can I keep a 6 yard skip?
Standard hire is 14 days. If you need it for longer we can extend the hire, or collect and redeliver. Let us know your timescale when you book and we will work to it.
