Across those, most issue within a few working days, the single most common lead time is 5 working days, and roughly 71% turn a permit around within five working days. Three things drive the spread. The first is simply council capacity and how the streetworks team is resourced. The second is whether a site inspection is required before a permit is granted, which adds days. The third is the type of scheme: some councils operate tacit or assumed consent, where the application is treated as approved if no decision is given within a set window, which effectively caps the wait.
