Check your areaOur service
Greater Manchester is ten boroughs and around 2.8 million people, and we cover all of them: Manchester and Salford at the core, Trafford, Stockport, Tameside and Oldham around the inner ring, then Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Wigan further out. Every booking is matched to the right local supplier and the right council, so the price and the permit are correct for your exact address rather than a regional average.
The job changes by area. Inner Salford, Oldham and Rochdale are dense Victorian terraces where most work needs a road permit and a 6 yard skip is the practical limit, while the Cheshire edge around Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme is large driveways and heavy garden waste. Each borough council issues its own permit under the Highways Act 1980, so we confirm the exact cost and lead time for your address before you commit. Greater Manchester has no charging Clean Air Zone, so deliveries here carry no clean air fee.

What we handle
From city centre demolition projects to suburban garden clear-outs, skip hire needs vary significantly across Greater Manchester. Below are the most common job types we handle across all 10 boroughs.
Terraced-street renovations
Inner Salford, Oldham, Rochdale and central Manchester are dominated by Victorian and Edwardian terraces with no off-street parking. Most renovations here need a road permit, and a 4 or 6 yard skip is usually the largest the street will safely take.
Trafford Park and Wigan industrial
Trafford Park is one of the largest industrial estates in Europe, and the Wigan and Leigh belt adds heavy logistics and manufacturing stock. Yard and unit clear-outs here are typically 12 yard maxi skips on a rolling exchange.
Cheshire-edge garden and landscaping
Bramhall, Cheadle Hulme, Hale and the affluent edges of Trafford and Stockport generate a lot of soil, turf and hard-landscaping waste. These are heavy loads, so a 4 or 6 yard skip filled level is usually the right call rather than a larger one part-filled.
House clearances and probate
A 12 yard maxi skip clears a typical three-bed semi in a single load. There is a steady flow of these across Bury, Bolton and Rochdale, often on short-notice probate timelines where collection speed matters more than price.
City-centre and waterside regeneration
Ongoing development through Ancoats, New Islington, NOMA and Salford Quays keeps steady demand for 8 and 12 yard skips on constrained city-centre sites, almost always with a kerbside permit and a timed delivery window.
Trade and builder waste
The 6 yard builders skip is the most popular size among trade customers across Greater Manchester. See our skip sizes guide for a full breakdown.

Yes, our Manchester service covers all ten Greater Manchester boroughs: Manchester City, Salford, Trafford, Stockport, Bolton, Bury, Wigan, Rochdale, Oldham and Tameside. Coverage runs from the city-centre apartments off Deansgate and Ancoats through the post-war suburbs of Stockport, Trafford and Bury to the terraces of Oldham, Rochdale and Wigan further out. Each borough has its own council with its own permit terms, and we arrange the right one for your address as part of every booking.
Skip prices in Manchester start from £120 for a 2 yard mini, £205 for a 4 yard midi, £260 for a 6 yard builders skip, £260 for an 8 yard large skip, and £360 for a 12 yard maxi. Council permit fees vary by borough across Greater Manchester and apply only when the skip needs to sit on the public highway rather than a driveway. The fee for your specific borough is confirmed in your quote upfront.
If the skip will be placed on a public road or pavement anywhere across the ten Greater Manchester boroughs, you need a permit from the relevant local council. Skips placed entirely on a driveway or private land do not need a permit. We arrange the application on your behalf with the right council, whether that is Manchester City Council, Salford City Council, Trafford Council, Stockport Council, Bolton Council, Bury Council, Wigan Council, Rochdale Borough Council, Oldham Council or Tameside Council.
Same-day delivery is offered subject to availability across all ten Greater Manchester boroughs for driveway drops, particularly in the suburban streets of Stockport, Trafford, Bury and the residential parts of Manchester City further out from the centre. Road-placed skips depend on the relevant council permit; lead times vary across the ten boroughs, so for kerbside placements we recommend booking ahead.
On the dense central streets around the Northern Quarter, Oxford Road, Deansgate and Spinningfields, a 4 yard or 6 yard skip with a road permit is typically the practical maximum. Loading-bay clearances and footway widths often rule out larger sizes, and we plan delivery slots around the trading day. For city-centre apartments with no off-street loading we can arrange a wait-and-load service rather than a static skip on the road.
